The news and ramblings of the Lizzie B girls

Oh the weather outside is… frightful?  Delightful? Here in Tucson, it’s pretty much “all is calm, all is bright” most of the time.

A couple of posts back, Liz wrote about the falling white stuff that was happening there on the east coast.  It looks a little different here on the “west coast” .  (I know, Tucson isn’t exactly the coast, but we ARE in the west…the wild, wild west!)  See, we do have lots of green… it’s just in the form of a whole lotta CACTI.  And when Christmas time rolls around…just take a LOOK of how it’s decked out.  Santa Hats.  Kind of silly, really.  But seriously…you can see Santa hats on all KINDS of cacti here.

Really, who decided this was festive?  Not a good look, I don’t think.  And WHO THE HECK climbs up there?  Ouch!!

But the last few days, it’s been pretty cold!  (Well, for us Tucsonans anyway.  Winter and 60 degrees and we are breaking out the scarves, baby!  Kind of fun to wear a fuzzy scarf now and then. We gotta do it while we can.

scarves

(And check out this colorful pile of soft warm fuzziness that Mama C brought to me when she arrived for the holidays…. she loves to knit scarves!  Yay!)

catalinasrainbowToday, the wind blew in and a storm hung around… RAIN!  And tomorrow, we MIGHT wake up to a scenic view of snow on our mountains. Or, we might get something like this.  Either way, it will be nice.  And we won’t need a snowblower!

Ready for yesterday’s winner announcement?!  It’s …… Sarah Vee!!  We need your address Sarah— send it to LizzieBgirls@gmail.com

Baby, it’s COLD outside.  Might have to close our windows tonight!  Comments will be entered to win tomorrow’s present give-away… so let us know what YOUR favorite kind of weather is for Christmas day …?

It might be really cold here, but love for the sun to shine on Christmas Day. We got another 6 inches of snow yesterday, and it will be around for a few months ( end of February). I love that the days are starting to get longer. Love the hats on the cactii.

Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas from Tucson. Come on Beth we had 45 mph winds today…not nice on my side of town. I like snow for Christmas and have a hard time getting the mood when it is 60-70 degrees. BUT I love not having to shovel snow, put on long johns, gloves, boots and the like. Flashbacks to living in Maine…mud rooms, boots, wet gloves and snowsuits for the kids.I will take Tucson.

In upstate NY we almost always have snow. The best Christmas is a good layer of snow, warm enough to be packy for making snowmen and snowballs. Deep enough for snowsledding and sunny would be a bonus. Was fun to see the decorated cactus.

my favorite weather was when in lived on a sailboat in florida it would be a lovely 80 or high 70’s…grilling burgers and such for all the fellow boaters who had no family with them like us…i loved those times and will treasure them always. giving to others in the non mall frenzy way.

My favorite weather for Christmas is snow, snow, snow….but it doesn’t look like we’re getting it here in Indiana. The weatherman was guaranteeing snow this past weekend, but now they’re saying rain, rain, rain.

Of course, watching a light snowfall over the frozen lake while sitting by the fireplace! Tucson weather doesn’t sound that bad either, actually!

I love it to snow on Christmas Eve (after we’re home from visiting relatives). It’s nice when it’s snowing on Christmas Day as we’re opening the gifts. Not too much, though; we don’t want to spend the rest of the day shoveling!

I grew up in the midwest & had plenty of snow to last me a lifetime. We’re in Texas now & I would love for it to be 70s & sunny!

Yay for me! My favourite Christmas weather is a light, feather like snow falling when I leave church at midnight. It makes it feel like all is right with the world. Snow on Christmas morning - enough to make snowmen successfully - is wonderful too:)

Having lived in the Northeast and VA, I’ve seen all kinds of weather for Christmas. Some were white, and some were just very cold. One Christmas in VA, the temperature reached 80! For me, the weather isn’t that important as long as I have my family with me.

It is very windy here in SoCal today. Hope that it doesn’t blow all the avacados off the tree! I have not seen a decorated cactus around here, but there is a peppertree on the top of a hill here in town. We go up and decorate it for all of the holidays. It’s fun and gets us a little exercise!

I love snow on Christmas and it looks like I will get it! I live in Northern WI - we will probably get way more than we need!
I have seen cars decorated like Rudolph around here……….:)

Cold wind kept me awake last night here in SoCal–I love the cold, but I guess you have to be careful what you wish for…

On the real West Coast, I love cold, crisp air and sunshine. That’s the weather report for this morning; I hope it continues for 2 more days!

Snow that’s not too wet and slushy, enough for a snowman but not enough to keep you housebound. Blue sky and sunshine!

Love the Christmas cactus! I do love some snow at Christmas but only a little so it doesn’t disrupt any plans. Merry Christmas!

My favorite time for Christmas is when is so cold out side and you make a cup of tea and work on any UFO in the closet.
