The news and ramblings of the Lizzie B girls

airplane-cuteFall Market is over… which means it’s time to hit the road and head home!  I tell ya, today was a busy day for the airports in Houston.  Those that attend the wholesale quilt market are heading home, and those getting ready for the humongous retail quilt Festival are just arriving into town.  The airports are teeming with quilters, a-comin’ and a-goin’!   And there are some that stay around for BOTH big events (something the Lizzie B girls have not yet had the courage—or time— to do!)

gpsJack, our trusty GPS man (who sits on our dashboard and TRIES to tell us what to do) is relieved to be home and back on his shelf, awaiting the next adventure.  He is so HAPPY to be outta Houston.  I don’t know if it’s just him, or us, or if it’s some wonky magnetic field…. but the whole GPS thing just does not WORK in that lovely city.  The roads and freeways are insane and getting lost is just part of the whole experience.

So back to the reality of busy moms working from home.  Liz is catching up with laundry and unpacking on the East coast, and yep, I am doing the same here at my house.  Seems the families survived our absence, but left piles of laundry for us (joy!) and life QUICKLY gets back to the normal crazy pace. taxi-momInstead of the alarm waking us to the energy and fast pace of market tomorrow morning…. it will be blaring us awake so we can make the morning taxi-run…

I am SO impressed (and envious) of those folks at market who are able to make the rounds and take tons of pics of the creative stuff they see under the convention center roof.  We try to see it all, but really— we feel lucky if we even get to see HALF of it.  The entire industry is under that roof, and it’s quite amazing.  We are able to get out of our booth now and then…but we like to hang out in our little 10′x10′ universe too, to meet all of the wonderful quilt shop owners from around the country, and even the world!   We snapped some pics here and there, but not as many as we’d like.

But there are plenty of market pics to see online!  Check out our famous friend Pat’s blog here Pat Sloan’s Corner.  She has posted tons of pics and it’s just plain fun to read her blog too.  We met another Lizabeth at market!  She has a blog called SparkBark and her take on market is fresh and fun.

Our friends at Kansas City star write a fabulous blog and have some pics and insights into the days spent at market.  Check it out at PickleDish. And Gina Halladay of Quilter’s Buzz is back a-bloggin’!  She is one busy lady, heading up to Pacific International Quilt Fest in northern California this week. Post pics from there too, Gina… pretty please!

thank-you1

We MUST say a big giant THANK YOU to Christine (Liz’s sister, who posts as “dsgnermom”) for so diligently being our guest blogger while we were at market!  Every night, no matter how exhausted we were, she stayed up late and clicked away on the keyboard.  She is also our fabulous web designer, just in case you were wondering….

Most of OUR pics got posted on our fan site on Facebook.  Come join us there!  We sooo love the interaction we can have with friends on FB… and we LOVE our Lizzie B fans who support us and laugh with us and keep us going!  Become and fan and join the fun and craziness of the Lizzie B FB page!  We are approaching 500 fans, and I think we should have a giveaway when we hit that mark, don’t you?  Tell your friends… maybe some Lizzie B fabric in the mail?

Coming home is bittersweet.  Missing the fun and energy of market, and of course, our many friends in the biz.  Missing the Lizzie B team for sure…  we worked hard and laughed hard this week!   Jack is happy to be back on the shelf, and frankly… I will NOT miss his stern voice telling us that he is “recalculating”.  As for hitting the road, Jack…. well, I am hitting the sack.  zzz

So happy to read about your adventure. How fun! Woo-HOO! Sorry about the laundry though… kids should come with an attached nanny to help with the extra chores they bring, LOL! Wouldn’t that be awesome? One can dream… I bet that if I made that quilt and put it in the laundry room that’s whay I would think of every time I saw it, a nanny that does laundry, LOL!

Wow, girls, it looks like you had an amazing time. Rest up before getting back to creating your beautiful quilt designs.
